Find out a bit more about Future Me – why it’s important, who it’s for, and what to do to help your child achieve their dreams.
Future Me is for you, the parent or carer, to use with your child. It helps you talk to your child about their dreams for the future. Future Me is part of Read, Write, Count – a website that’s full of activities and ‘how-to’ videos that you can help your child learn and grow.
To give your child the best chance of living their dreams, you need to help them learn and use some essential life skills. You can find lots of simple, everyday ways to practise these skills with your P1-P3 on the Read, Write, Count website. A little practice together will make your bond even stronger and it’ll make a huge difference to your child’s future too.
Feeling a bit stuck? Don’t worry. Here you’ll find a guide showing you how to add your child’s dream to the wall that includes questions to ask them, tips on uploading, and the answers to some FAQs.
Sometimes it can be tricky for your child to understand. To make it easier, show them the examples on the wall. You could also talk to them about the dreams you had when you were little.
Now for the exciting part! Help your child bring their dream to life in a sentence, letter or note, drawing, picture or video. You can upload photos and videos straight from your smartphone. If your child has done a drawing or hand-written a letter, simply take a picture of it and upload it as a photo.
Select ‘add it to the wall’ and follow the steps together. It doesn’t take long – you’ve only got one more step to go!
Add both your details so that we know whose Future Me belongs to who. Hit ‘Submit’ and check your email account for your child’s special Future Me certificate. (Note: only your child’s first name and age will appear on the Future Me wall)
A little while after you’ve submitted, you’ll be able to come and find your child’s Future Me on Scotland’s giant dream wall – we’ll send you an email when it’s ready. We’ll also keep you updated with everyday ways you can help your child imagine a bright future and live their dreams.
It can take a wee while for your child’s dream to appear on the wall. This is because we have to make sure your submission has uploaded correctly. We’ll send you an email as soon as your child’s dream is on the wall.
Future Me is aimed at children in P1-P3 but we’d love it if other children took part too. The most important part is that children add their dream with their parent/carer.
Of course you can! There is no limit on how many dreams each child can submit.
Future Me is part of Read, Write, Count – a place full of ideas and activities for parents and carers to do with their children. Visit Read, Write, Count for simple, everyday ways you can make a huge difference to your child’s life and learning.
